The special focus for 2010 was the recent 150yr anniversary of war in Taranaki on of March 17, 1860. Pomare day will seek to emphasise pathways forward as a legacy of well-being into the future for Taranaki and its many connections. Speakers will raise past issues and present projects / strategies to empower Taranaki Maori communities to be actively engaged in lasting solutions. Friday evening is set aside as a time to wananga in both open forum and facilitated learning exercises. The discussion will cover Taranaki’s protocols for its ‘mate’.
